CASA of Denton County., Advisory Council Member
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Denton County, Inc. is a volunteer-based non-profit organization serving the Denton County area. CASA volunteers are appointed by the court to serve as advocates for abused or neglected children removed from their homes by Child Protective Services (CPS). These volunteers investigate and monitor a child’s situation while in alternative or foster care. Within a twelve to eighteen month time period, they make a recommendation to the presiding judge as to what permanent placement would be in the best interest of the child.
Lana was on the Board of Directors for a year and transitioned to the advisory council once that term was completed. The CASA Board of Directors provides leadership, support, and guides the overall management and direction of the organization. The Board is legally responsible for the actions of the agency and works to ensure that these actions adhere to the guidelines and purposes articulated in the CASA of Denton County Bylaws. The CASA Board meets monthly to develop policies and to monitor the financial health, program progress, and overall performance of the agency.

JELA Ladies' Health Fair
In July 2013, I was charged with planning, implementing and evaluating a health fair for a non-profit organization in Van Nuys, California. In 3 short months, with other committee members, we were able to execute a befitting free health fair for the community. The program included an educational session in the format of a symposium, providing basic information on Diabetes, Stroke, Heart Disease and Nutrition; the symposium was followed by the actual health fair with several booths including dentistry, eye care, and blood pressure providing free screening to attendees. With over 150 attendees, the program was a great success by all acounts.
Health in Diaspora, Nigeria
The health of any community is the most important part of its existence; a healthy community is a productive community. #HIDNG is a project with a single objective, to improve the health and wellness of Nigerians in the diaspora. I do this by assessing the health of Nigerians in local cities and metroplex through a unique survey/questionnaire, analyzing the data collected, and planning an event to share this information with Nigerians in that community.
Freshman Manager; Sink or Swim
#FMSOS is a book about my freshman year as a manager in healthcare; in simpler terms, this was my journal converted into a book. You’ll read of my trials and tribulations, mistakes and corrections, victories and pitfalls as I navigated the complex and not so welcoming world of management. I write in the first person to give a personal feel to the not-so personal world of corporate America. Some of the illustrates are imagined with the goal of knowledge sharing. I invite you to journey with me through my freshman year as a manager (both my real experiences and those created from my imagination). Order your copy today from amazon (digital and hardcopy) for only $9.99; a dollar from every sale goes to support the education of future healthcare leaders in third world countries.
Worksite Wellness Program Evaluation
In this project in the fall of 2012, I completed a worksite wellness program evaluation of the OU Physicians wellness program in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I assessed the effectiveness of the project, identified barriers preventing employee participation, and outlined strategies to improve engagement of the over 1200 employees at that facility.
YASM LA, 2014 Convention

My responsiblity was to coordinate the local team who would facilitate the work the national team would execute over the 3 day convention. The local team was responsible for the planning that took about 8 months with indepth weekly meetings; I was particularly responsible for hosting 3 mini-conventions in Phoenix, Az, Los Angeles, Ca and Sacramento, CA to encourage attendance of new members of YASM.
